Different Faces of the Doctor

The First Doctor: William Hartnel played the first doctor from 1963 until 1966. His first few, of many, companions included Susan Foreman, Ian, and Barbara.  The Second Doctor: Patrick Troughton portrayed the second doctor from 1966 to 1969. This version of the doctor was slightly more childish than the first. Sometimes pretending to be a fool only to trick his enemies and then having a brilliant plan hidden all along, this doctor was a genius. He is commonly associated with the recorder and the phrase, “When I say run, RUN.”
The Third Doctor: Jon Pertwee was the third doctor for four years, from 1970 until 1974. As a scientist known for practicing karate he was known for being the doctor of many hobbies.
The Fourth Doctor: Tom Baker, the fourth doctor is a hilarious man known for his multi-color scarf. From 1974 until 1981 he acted as the human like time lord we all know and love, even adding his own spin to the character. For instance, always saying he loves jelly babies, an old british candy.

The Fifth Doctor: Notorious for his celery in the lapel of his coat, Peter Davison pulls of the doctor quite well. From 1981-1984 he played the role splendidly, adding spins like using his sense of smell for everything, and flipping a coin to make his decisions.
The Sixth Doctor: Wearing possibly the weirdest outfit of all the doctors, Colin Baker played the famous role from 1984-1986. This kooky man is known most for the cat broach he wears upon his lapel.

The Seventh Doctor: This doctor, played by Sylvester McCoy, had a tough time. He was doing fine on the show from 1986-1989, but then the show got canceled and he had to wait until the 90’s movie to come back only to leave again. This was when we met the eighth doctor.
The Eighth Doctor: Paul McGann believe it or not had an even rougher time in this series as the doctor than Sylvester McCoy. He was only there for the end of the 90’s movie and a few special episodes. Never even getting his own series. This was the end of the 20th century version of the show, Doctor Who.
The Ninth Doctor:  Kicking off the new series of Doctor Who in 2005 Christopher Eccleston played the notorious doctor for one season. He quit because he didn’t see eye to eye with the director. He also refused to return for the 50th anniversary special for that same reason. Nine was often known to say, “Fantastic!” As it was his catch phrase.
The Tenth Doctor: David TENnant, my personal absolute favorite doctor, played the role for a whopping five years from 2005-2010. His catch phrase was Allons-y. He once said, “ I like that. Allons-y. I should say allons-y more often. 'Allons-y'. Look sharp, Rose Tyler, allons-y! And THEN , it would be really brilliant if I met someone called Alonzo. Because then I could say, 'Allons-y, Alonzo!” Another one of my favorite tennant quotes was, “ People think of time as a straight line, but when you look at it from a non-linear, non-subjective point of view, it's more of a great big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.”
The Eleventh Doctor: Matt Smith plays the doctor now, he took over after David Tennant in 2010. There are plans for him to be replaced Christmas day by Peter Capaldi the soon to be twelfth doctor. This actor added a few spins to the character as did all of his predecessors. These include, an occasional fez, bow ties, and his catch phrase, “Geronimo.”
